AboutThe Caruso Society

The Caruso Society was established in honor of Dr. Daniel M. Caruso, who lost his battle with cancer in 2017.

Dr. Caruso graduated from the MIHS surgical residency program in 1998 and was the Chairman of the Department of Surgery from 2006 until his death.  He was devoted and fiercely loyal to his Department, and was an outstanding critical care/burn surgeon and passionate surgical educator.

Dr. Caruso was a fervent advocate of the residents he helped mentor to their promise and potential.  His dedication to the surgical training of the next generation will continue to pay forward as part of his legacy, through the exceptional alumni of the MIHS surgical residency program.

In his honor, this association was formed to keep strong the bonds between surgical alumni, faculty and administration of a program he so loved.
